May 19, 2021: The Flipside Report- Targeted Geographic Electrification in California's Gas Transition!
The BDC and Common Spark Consulting co-host a members-only webinar to preview the recommendations contained in “The Flipside Report: A White Paper on Targeted Geographic Electrification in California’s Gas Transition.”
Filled with solutions for how we can end our dependence on gas and accelerate the electrification of our communities, The Flipside Report discusses and proposes:
o Targeted geographic electrification to mitigate disproportional infrastructure costs/throughput, while maximizing cost savings and reliability
o Leveraging dynamics between gas rates and electric rates for whole-bill considerations that will provide incentives for electrification while protecting customer affordability
o Prioritization for migrating low-income, environmental justice, and vulnerable populations away from the gas system first. Establishing bill protection/credit programs for those populations transitioning from gas network dependence to electrification
o Financing and funding options designed to accelerate electrification within the timeline established for California to attain its emissions goals.
Thank you for joining us for an informative and lively discussion of the challenges, solutions, and implications of targeted electrification and gas decommissioning.
